Sod maintenance
It is important until your sod firmly roots that it is carefully maintained by watering and reduced traffic.
Sodding vs seeding
Both sodding and seeding has its advantages and disadvantages. Sodding allows for instant coverage but cost more, seeding can be considerably less expensive but requires more care and time to grow. At Pahl’s we will sit down with you after evaluating your needs and explain in detail what we recommend for your situation. Contact us today for a free consultation.
Sod and Seed – Basic steps to keep your lawn looking great
New Sod:
In summer, after sod installation, water 3-4 times each day for 10-15 minutes each set during daylight hours. Continue this watering schedule for 7-10 days or until rooting develops.
New Seeding:
Once your new grass has sprouted, you will want to water it daily lightly for the first few days to keep moist, with a total of about 1″ of moisture during the period of a week.
Erosion Control
Erosion begins when rain or irrigation water loosens soil particles. When there is too much water to soak into the soil, it fills surface depressions and begins to flow. With enough speed, this surface runoff carries away the loosened soil. Runoff from roofs and paved areas can contribute to erosion by directing large amounts of water in a short time period to nearby areas that are unable to absorb it quickly enough.
Pahl’s can evaluate your specific erosion issue and give you a comprehensive plan to alleviate the problem area. Contact us TODAY for your free consultation!
Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding is a planting process that uses a slurry of seed and mulch. It is often used as an erosion control technique on construction sites, as an alternative to the traditional process of broadcasting or sowing dry seed. Pahl’s has the capabilities to hydroseed any size area. Call us today about our fast and reliable hydroseeding services.
